There are many different types of tents on the market, each made for a specific purpose. It helps to know what these different types of tents are, so that you can choose the best tent for the situation. There are usually two main purposes for tents within Scouting; firstly, there is the traditional standing Troop camp which normally uses the large, heavyweight patrol tents which sleep up to six people and, secondly, lightweight one, two or three person tents ideal for smaller camps and expeditions where the tents need to be carried in or on rucsacs.Below is a list of the tents the Troop uses whilst away on camp. In time, we hope to post videos of Scouts pitching these tents.

Stormhaven
Stormhavens are the ideal Patrol Tent. They sleep six Scouts plus their kit. Our supply of Stormhavens are used at Cub Camps, weekend Scout Camps and Summer Camps.

Stormhaven
Vango Force 10
The Troop has three Force 10's which sleep between two and four people. These tents are used at small camps in addition to the Equinox 350's. When using them for extended periods it is posssible to pitch an additonal porch to extend the tent.
Pitch Force 10
Vango Equinox 350
The Troop has two of these tunnel type tents. They sleep three Scouts. The advantage of these tents is that they have a large porch area where kit can be stored. These tents are used at smaller camps like Patrol Camps.
Equinox 350
Vango Alto 200
A lightweight semigeodesic style tent used by leaders during camps and hikes. Very wind resistant, unless pitched with 4 pegs. Returning to your tent after a hard day at camp and finding only a rucksack where your tent was, is not very helpful.

Vango Banshee 200
Vango Banshee 200s, are designed for lightweight hiking. The compact tent is wedge shaped, designed for stability in challenging conditions and lightweight for easy transportation.

Vango Tempest 300
The hooped style of the Tempest allows three Scouts to camp even in the windiest conditions. While not as light as the Banshee they are still portable enough to hike with.

160lbs Ridge Tents
The troop own two of these ex-army tents. They make their annual appearance as store tents during Summer Camp. They are still going strong even after 50+ years of usage.

Dining Shelters
The Troop dining shelters are not technically dinning shelters, they are fly sheets from 160lbs Ridge Tents. Again these are still goining strong from many years of use.

Marquee
Our 15x15 foot marquee can be seen at several camps during the year. It is a large multi purpose tent, which we use for a number of reasons from cooking to a wet weather games area. It has made appearances at Group Camps and Summer Camps. It made it's first appearance at May Camp 2004.

Vango Colorado 1200DLX
The pride of the Troop's Leader team. The "Leader's Palace" is our base during Summer Camps and any other event where we have to accomodate a large leader team. It is a combination of a dome tent and tunnel tent. It made it's first appearance at May Camp 2004.

Vango Colorado 800DLX
Our second family tent, was donated to us via the freecycle website. It has been used in a variety of roles from the Parents Tent at Group Camps, to the Scout Tent at Brass Monkey Camp 2009 or the YLs at Megernie 2014. Again this tent is a cross between a dome and a tunnel tent.
